Just Another Winter Storm
So…..The month of January brought us snow storms that left plenty of the white stuff laying around with nothing better to do but to make our temperature plummet to record lows and the windchill temp hovered near 50 below zero (that’s -50….but I just have trouble writing it that way because it is to easy to compute that it is 120 degrees lower than where I feel comfortable). My old bones just shivered and rattled, and that was while I stood in my house looking outside……..B-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r……
Five days into February I sit here looking out …….. It is RAINING and the temperature is…….30 degrees….so-o-o-o-o-o-o-o….instant ice skating arenas……everywhere. It is supposed to rain on and off until midnight, we will see what the morning brings.
Well the weatherman hit it right on the nose, overnight we got about 3 or 4 tenths of an inch of ice on everything. The temperature is hovering around 30 degrees and is expected to get to the mid 30’s so it should do a pretty good job of deicing the sidewalks and driveways. Of course this evenings weather report is calling for a repeat of last night……
WELL….WELCOME TO IOWA…..
Ah yes….I remember that weather very well. I am writing this on July 10th and it is supposed to get to the mid-90s today with the heat factor in the triple digits. Even though I remember the weather on February 6th, the weather today kind of dulls the thought of it.
